Movie and TV Audition Tips - Getting the Call
When a casting agency is putting out an open casting call from Broadway, they'll often advertise on local radio stations, on the internet, in newspapers and even get in contact with school drama departments. More often, casting calls and auditions are closed to the general public and you have to be a member of an actor's union to be invited.

• Don’t cause yourself any unnecessary stress. Show up for an audition 10-15 minutes early and be prepared to wait.
• Once you've made it to the audition, you want the casting director to remember you. If you've been given lines to read ahead of time, rehearse them with anyone you can. Being unprepared won't score you leads in feature films!
• Try not to be nervous. We know you're bound to be anxious, but just remember that casting directors are people too and you'll do a much better job if you're relaxed.
• Walk in with a big smile and a lot of confidence. Nothing blows casting directors away more than peeps who exude self-confidence.
Practice makes perfect! If you have the opportunity to take a drama class at school or at your local community center, do it. Just like in sports, you have to keep stretching and training your acting muscle if you want to land that big part.
TV auditions can give you high pressure, but put it all in perspective, grin and bear it. Even if you enter one of these sorts of auditions, dreams of being a TV star dancing in your head, and the first thing you hear is someone yelling at the top of their lungs about how there hasn't been one marginally talented person who has passed through that day and they're absolutely fed up, don't panic, you now have a new acting job. You must now act like you've been through a zillion auditions for TV shows of all kinds and no matter what the people at this particular casting call say to you, you will keep on with your plans to become a big TV star one day.
